To end, I am sharing a quote by Sudha Murthy that I like, from her book ‘Wise & Otherwise’. She has written books on many topics and this could be an interesting book to read. I hope that Sudha Murthy writes a book about the COVID-19 Pandemic and shares her experiences. It makes me imagine how the real scenario could have been and lets me connect with the storyand empathize with the characters. This is one of the main reasons why I like her writing.
She does not use difficult words and the way she writes makes me relate to the story.Īlso, her writing style keeps me engrossed, making me to continue reading. One thing that differentiates Sudha Murthy’s writing from that of other authors is that she writes simple and interesting stories. I have realized that each author has his/her unique writing style. I have also read books by different authors such as Rick Riordan, Ruskin Bond, Dan Brown and many others. Now, I have a small collection of her books. I also got an insight into the lives of people all over India based on what she had written. This book had valuable life lessons that Sudha Murthy had learnt while travelling all over India. Sometime later, my aunt gifted me a book titled, ‘The Old Man and His God: Discovering the Spirit of India’. From this book, I learnt about different kinds of people in the world, where some do not care for their own, whereas others will do everything to help others. Sometime back, my uncle gifted me a book titled, ‘Wise and Otherwise’. It was informative and interesting and gave me knowledge about the Trinity that is not commonly known. The book had many stories about the Trinity – Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh. I was quite happy and immediately started reading it. Once, my parents gifted me a book titled, ‘The Man from the Egg: Unusual Tales about the Trinity’. They would remember this and gift me a book whenever there was a special occasion. By this time, many of my relatives knew that I was fond of reading. I realized that a person can fulfil any dream of his/hers if they have the will todo so.
I was inspired by how a person from a middle-class family became famous. She is quite humble, down to earth and simple even though she has reached such great heights. I got to know that Sudha Murthy has written many books. It was very good and I liked the way it was written. She suggested a book written by Sudha Murthy, titled, ‘How I Taught My Grandmother to Read and Other Stories’. I agreed with her and asked if she could suggest some good books. Later on, seeing that I had read a lot of Enid Blyton books, the librarian suggested that I should try reading books written by other authors. It was very interesting and I liked it a lot. Even though I was a little apprehensive, I selected a book written by Enid Blyton. I was a bit uncomfortable at first, as I had to move out of my comfort zone. Nearly after a year, my parents suggested that I should increase my level of reading. I continued reading Geronimo Stilton books for some time. I read the book with great interest and finished it in a day. I picked up a Geronimo Stilton book which seemed nice and took it home. Then, my parents suggested that I should read small books first.
In that excitement, I started picking books at random and became confused about which ones to read. When I entered the library for the first time, I was quite excited to see so many different books. To prevent this from happening and for me to get a hobby, my parents enrolled me in a library. When I was in second grade, my parents didn’t want me to get too close to electronic devices like tablet, mobile phone etc. Devices such as Kindle enable one to read multiple books on a single device. Nowadays, even books have been digitized. In this age of computers, where everything has become easy through the means of electronic devices, bibliophiles are not easily found.
